Planinarsko smučarsko društvo ŽELEZNIČAR Novi Sad osnovali su 18. aprila 1951. godine ljubitelji prirode u ŽTP Novi Sad, pod nazivom Planinarsko-smučarsko društvo Železničar. Cilj Društva je čuvanje prirodne okoline i rekreacija građana. Danas Društvo ima oko 600 članova.

Većina članova je aktivna na redovnim nedeljnim pešačenjima, u okviru rekreativne akcije Društva "PEŠAČIMO U PRIRODI". Društvo je Osnivač, velike planinarske manifestacije - PLANINARSKOG MARATONA NA FRUŠKOJ GORI.

Društvene prostorije Planinarskog društva "Železničar'' nalaze se u Novom Sadu, u samom centru grada na Trgu Galerija br. 4, u blizini Galerije Matice Srpske.

Društvo ima planinarski dom na Popovici, na Fruškoj gori. Dom ima kuhinju, trpezariju za 40 posetilaca grejanu kaljevom peći i 2 sobe sa po 10 ležajeva. Dom ima struju, vodu, WC, stalnog domaćina doma (+381)(0) 21 463 205, mob.(+381)(0) 63 80 24 532, terasu sa pogledom na Novi Sad.

Do doma se stiže prigradskim autobusom br.74 koji polazi sa Železničke stanice Novi Sad.

Nature lovers, employed at the Railway transport enterprise, founded Mountaineering and skiing society “Zeleznicar” in Novi Sad on 18th April, 1951. Since then, the aim of the society has been to preserve the environment and to offer recreation to citizens. Today the society has between 600 and 700 members.

 Most of our members are active on regular Sunday tours around Fruska gora. This recreational activity, called “Let’s walk in the country”, has been organized since 14th November, 1982.

 The society is also a founder of a great hiking event-Mountaineering Marathon on Fruska gora. Since the first marathon, held in May 1978, till the jubilee 30th marathon in April 2007, almost 120 000 hikers have walked down the marathon’s paths.

 Members of the mountaineering society “Zeleznicar” have a meeting every Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. in their offices which are in the centre of Novi Sad, at number 4, Trg Galerija Street, near The Gallery of Matica Srpska.  The society has a mountaineering dorm on Popovica, on Fruska gora. The dorm has a kitchen, a dining room for 40 visitors, heated by a brick stove and two rooms with 10 beds in each.
